Mrs. Lindsey Hayek
Hello! My name is Lindsey Hayek, and I love all things musical. My husband, Andy, and I live in Winston-Salem, NC with our dogs Roy and Carly. Andy is a physical therapist with Baptist Hospital (Outpatient Clinic) and I am a middle school chorus teacher at Oak Grove Middle School in Davidson County. We moved to Winston-Salem in August of 2015 and we LOVE it here! We love exploring Winston-Salem and the beautiful nature surrounding this area. I look forward to sharing my love of music with students!
My Musical Background
According to my parents, I began singing as soon as I could talk! I grew up Raleigh, NC and was fortunate to have parents that exposed me to music and musical opportunities as a child. We were always going to musicals and singing Disney songs.

I was blessed with wonderful music teachers, which is a huge part of why I am a teacher today. I began taking piano lessons in 4th grade, and continued through my junior year of college. My piano teacher encouraged me to accompany and perform elsewhere-- I accompanied some of my middle school choir concert in 8th grade! By the end of high school, I was playing for weddings. When my piano teacher was on maternity leave, I took over some of her younger students and began teaching lessons. In college, I taught a few private piano lessons as well as accompanied non-major vocalists. I am very thankful for my piano training and skills; not only is it very enjoyable, but it has been a very useful in other aspects of my musical learning.
I started singing in choirs in 5th grade, and haven't stopped! When I was in high school, I began taking private voice lessons, and also have not stopped. I fell in love with singing, and was a voice major at UNC-Chapel Hill. I love all aspects of singing--performing, learning, and teaching. I am classically trained, but enjoy singing a variety of music. I also love choral music--there is something so special about making music as a group!
I love teaching so much, I decided to earn my Master's in the Art of Teaching at UNC-Chapel Hill and absolutely love sharing my love for music with students. I have all levels of music (K-12) in public schools. I am currently a middle school chorus/general music teacher at Oak Grove Middle Schol in Davidson County. I was Greene County Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015 and also earned my National Board Certification for music.
I hope that I can learn, teach, accompany, and perform in the Winston-Salem area. Let me know how I can share my love of music with you!
